In celebration of six years on the channel, we’re going back to where it all began - the Sidecar! This was the first cocktail I featured, and it’s the drink that got me hooked on classic cocktails years ago. Just for fun, we’re also making the Alabazam (love the name), a similar drink that predates the Sidecar by over 40 years. Feel free to mix along at home. How to Make The sidecar
Perfect balance of Cognac to orange
Bright & light
Sips
Tips
Pour cocktail just below the sugar rim
Grab half a lemon
Rub lemon on the rim of the glass
Turn glass upside down and place in sugar
Set glass in freezer
Begin with a shaking tin
Pour in 1.5 oz. of Cognac
Next, add in 1 oz. of Curacao
Then, pour in ½ oz. fresh lemon juice
Lastly, add in 3 dashes of Absinthe
Add ice, and shake for 15 seconds
Double strain into a chilled glass

The sidecar recipe
Pour in 1.5 oz. of Cognac
Next, add in 1/2 oz. Cointreau
Then, pour in 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
Pour in 1/2 oz. semi-rich simple syrup
Lastly, add in a barspoon of Angostura Bitters
Add ice, and shake
Double strain into a chilled glass

1.5 oz. (45 ml) Maison Rouge VSOP Cognac
1 oz. (30 ml) Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
1/2 oz. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice

1/2 oz. (15 ml) Cointreau
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. (15 ml) semi-rich simple syrup (1.5:1 sugar:water)
1 barspoon (~5 ml) Angostura Bitters
