Today we’re making an Apple Old Fashioned! This is a cozy fall twist on the classic. There’s no way I’m the first to make one, but this recipe is my own. Following the traditional Old Fashioned template of spirit, sugar, and bitters, the sweetener here is an apple cider reduction. It’s simple to make and adds a deep, caramelized apple flavor without any refined sugar.
I’m using a toasty bourbon and two bitters for depth, but this one invites experimentation. Rum, cognac, or applejack all work beautifully. If you love fall flavors, this one’s a must-try. Cheers!
